It is very hot to climb Mount Tai at night, you will not be alone. Climbing is relatively comfortable as temperature is lower at night, plus the precipitous and remote road at night is unseen, you will feel more relaxed.
Classic night climbing route: Red Gate - Zhongtian Gate – 18 pan - Nantianmen - Day Street - Yu Huangding
At 10pm ,start from Red Gate, after about three hours climbing to reach Zhongtian Gate and then take a short break to continue to climb for about an hour to reach 18 pan. This journey would not be very hard and the real test is on the way. 18 pan is particularly precipitous. Most people are giving up once they climb to 18 and see this steep mountain during the day, but at night, you cannot see the whole road, that enhances your confidence to climb up to the top.
About 3:00 am, we reached the Nantianmen, after having a short rest and something to eat we continue our journey. Soon, we reached the Day Street. You can see many tents along the way.
If you want to see the sunrise at Yu Huangding, make sure reach there before 5:00am. Go earlier if you can, that makes you can occupy a good position to see the sunrise, after all, too many people go for the beautiful sunrise.
After watching the sunrise, do not rush to down the mountain, you can walk around and take pictures. You can also take pictures when you down from the mountain. While Down from the mountain, you will meet some local comparatively older people, who climb Mount Tai to burn incense and pray.
1.There are food and drink to sell all the way to the top of Mount Tai. But the higher you are climbing, the more expensive things to sell.
2.Hiking stick is a must.
3.It is best not to climb Mount Tai for Older or physically poor people, or consider take the cable car. Generally, it takes 4-6 hours to the top.
4.Mountain climbing can be hot, it is not necessary to wear too many clothes, but it is can be very cold on the top of the hill and the wind is also strong at night. Best to bring the down jackets with you. However, overcoats are also available to rent all the way, it is best to rent one when you arrive Nantianmen if you don’t bring one.
5.Hotels are available on the mountain, but cannot be cheap
