Christmas Day was introduced to Hong Kong by western missionaries in 19th century,  which is an important festival in Hong Kong under the influence of its former suzerain Great Britain, with 25th and 26th of December as an official holiday.

For those visitors who’re to visit Hong Kong on Christmas day, you can always feel much festive spirit there. As a matter of fact, a number of department stores and supermarkets in Hong Kong have been decorated with Christmas trees, colorful lights and shinning glass baubles on the middle ten-day of November. What’s more, large-scale Christmas lights hanging from skyscrapers in Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, Lan Kwai Fong and Victorian Harbor are highlights of the annual Christmas day in Hong Kong, and the festival spirit reaches its climax on Christmas Eve with numerous people swarming on the streets, some of whom appreciate flickering light decorations, some gather for fun and some come for countdown for Christmas day, while some Roman Catholics and Christians get together in churches to make plans for spreading Gospel of Christ next year.
