The Labor Day is coming soon. Most people in China will enjoy a three-day holiday, lasting from April 29 to May 1.

Labor Day is celebrated on May 1. May 1 is a statutory holiday. Because April 28 (Saturday) is a workday instead of April 30 (Monday), a three-day holiday is formed (Sunday April 29–Tuesday May1).

Tourism in China will peak: Many Chinese people will catch this opportunity to have a tour lasting 3–5 days, which may extend from April 29 to May 3.

Many tourist destinations in China are expected to be more crowded, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guilin, Lijiang, Jiuzhaigou, and Yangshuo.

Traveling during this period will cost significantly more. Prices for tourist lodging and transport will increase, and some tourist attractions will implement a higher ticket price during this peak tourist period.

Early Summer ‑ Great Weather, Great Prices

The days after Labor Day holiday are good times to travel in China, because of the great weather, the avoiding peak season crowds, cost-efficient travel, and the best natural scenery of the year. Qingming Festival, an important festival for Chinese people. Most of the people will sweep the tombs and commemorate their ancestors. During this period, it is in spring, so the other purpose is to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Last week, my husband and I went home which is in Haiyang county in order to sweep the tombs of ancestors. It was a good weather. It’s not too hot and it rarely rained. In Chinese counties, most of the tombs are located on the moutains. For a year there are a lot of weeds around the tombs. We need to clean them using the shovels and sickles. It was a hard work but we also enjoy this experience. Family reunion made us happy. Qingming Festival made me realize it is important for me to treat my families and my friends well, who are still alive. You might regret that you did not treat them well when they pass away.

These are the azaleas i see for the first in this year.

Please enjoy the beautiful scenery with me!

Welcome to China, welcome to Guilin!

Water-Sprinkling Festival (similar to Songkran Festival in Thailand) is the most important festiva for the Dai minority: it's their New Year.

This year, the Water-Sprinkling Festival falls on mid-April, lasting from April 13 to April 15.

The first day (April 13) of Water-Sprinkling Festival is similar to the Chinese New Year’s Eve, the second day (April 14) is called Kongri (means the waste day), and the third day (April 15) is the New Year’s Day.

The most interesting element during Water-Sprinkling Festival is water sprinkling on Dai New Year's Day. Water sprinkling is an expression of sending wishes to each other.

On Dai New Year's Day, people will wear their new clothes, gather at the bank of Lancang River or Ruili River, sprinkle or splash water over each other, watch the dragon boat races, and appreciate peacock dances.

Xishuangbanna is the best destination for experiencing the Water-Sprinkling Festival. If you are interested in the festival and intend to experience it, you can have us tailor-make a tour to Xishuangbanna. We at China Highlights will take care of all your requirements.

Two weeks ago, my friends and I decided to have a hike along Li River. We would do it on Saturday. It had been rainy several days. We were afraid that the bad weather would affect our activity. Fortunately it was a nice day on Saturday.

In the morning, we take a mini-bus from the train station to Yangdi. We would hike from Yangdi to Xingping, as this section is the essence of the landscape of Li River. Lots of people who are interested in hiking would like to visit there. After about one hour, we got to Yangdi. All of us were excited. Unfortunately we had to cancel this travel plan for some reasons. We didn’t come back home immediately. We made another decision that we go back on foot and then take a bus to Yangshuo. On our way back, there are also some beautiful sceneries and villages along the road. Eventhough we could not hike along the river, we also had a good experience that time.

When we took a bus to Yangshuo, it was at about 14:00pm. We have a lunch there. It was a delicious food as we had a famous dish which was beer fish. After lunch, we all were full of the energy so we decided have a bike from Aishan to Gongnong Bridge. At first, I just needed a relaxation. To my surprise, I saw lots of rape flowers. I forgot it was a good chance to enjoy the beautiful flowers during that period. We were lucky that we could see this kind of scenery. I thought it’s a highlight on that day. I enjoyed my trip very much! I also hope I can hike along Li River next time.
